December is such a joyous time in our house. Many busy hands help to get our home decorated for the month. This year Parker took the initiative to decorate the Christmas tree all by himself. While his two oldest sisters were setting up lights and garland in the kitchen and the rest of the family was busy elsewhere, Parker decided that if the tree was ever going to be decorated, it was up to him to get the job done. Mama has no idea how he got all the ornaments up so high on the tree and figures it was best just not to ask. We were all so proud of him for doing such a nice job to bless our family.
Since the first year we moved to Atascadero, California in 1995, we count down the days in December until Christmas in a special way. Each night we read from the book, "The 25 Days of Christmas," light candles on the mantle and sing Christmas carols. This is the first year that Clay, Emma and Camie are truly joining in the celebration. Clay is great with the singing but wants nothing to do with the blowing out of the candles. Emma and Camie love this part! Camie is most skilled in blowing out candles which is a blessing to her daddy as he has to hold her up to get the job done. Emma loves to blow but isn't as skilled. This gives her daddy lots of opportunity to hold her up and let her blow!
This is a delightful time of the year!
