Playtime with Susanna

Today, Hattie, Emma, Camie & I headed up to Tulsa for a family therapy session with Susanna. This was Hattie’s first opportunity to see where the Lord has placed her sister. Seeing where Susanna actually lives was a surprise for Hattie . I hadn’t realized that Hattie had it in her mind that Susanna lived in a traditional hospital type setting. The wonderful facility is nothing like a hospital, aside from the medical professionals on staff and the security is very strict. It is more like a dorm type setting, complete with huge play yard and common school room area. Susanna really likes living there. She is happy with her room and is looking forward to a new roommate.

Therapy went well. Susanna is starting to make some progress and is learning more and more about herself daily. She still struggles but is now making an effort to try. This is a very good thing. Susanna did not earn the two passes required to go off campus so we weren’t able to take her with us to Sam’s Club. She did earn one pass and her therapist was eager to reward her for the one she did have. It was decided that Susanna could have special play yard time with her sisters. Susanna really enjoyed playing with Emma & Camie and showing them all they could do on the climbing structures. Susanna had also brought with her a rubberband so I could braid her hair. I braided her hair on our last visit and it appeared to have been a blessing to her. We are trying to initiate small, meaningful, positive things that I can do with Susanna on our visits. It looks like helping her with her hair will be one of them. Susanna usually only shows any self motivated affection or attention to the triplet’s on our family visits. The rest of us have to request a hug or make efforts to engage in conversation with Susanna. We do appreciate that Susanna tries to be pleasant on our visits and appears to be very happy with her life. We continue to pray and do all we can to help our precious girl. Thank you for any prayers said on her behalf.
