Susanna Moves to Tulsa

Today, we moved Susanna from the Baptist Home for Girls in Madill to the RAD Unit in Tulsa. We praise God that He orchestrated this wonderful opportunity for our precious daughter. Over the last few weeks, Susanna's choices have been becoming less wise and she was starting to put those she was living with at risk. The wonderful people who were caring for her were doing all they could but are not trained to handle a child who suffers so severely with RAD. (Reactive Attachment Disorder ~ http://www.radkid.org/ for more info)

It is only by the grace of God that Susanna was able to get into the RAD Unit. It is the 3rd best facility in the nation with an exceptional high success rate in dealing with children who have RAD but it is extremely difficult to get into due to limited space. Hopefully, this will soon change with as they are in the process of adding more beds to the program with the expansion of their facility in the near future. Currently there have only been eight beds at any one given time. Until this week. Out of the blue, the RAD Unit decided to add another bed. Yes, the Lord created a spot for Susanna! Thanks to Susanna's therapist (who just happened to help start the program and trained many of the people who work there), we were able to get Susanna into the program without delay. It is anticipated that Susanna will be there for two to three years. Originally, we thought it would only be about a year. We will continue to see her weekly to participate in her therapy.

It is heart wrenching to think our daughter does not live in our home. Since Susanna first moved out on November 8, 2007, we have had to adjust to the fact that it is not God's plan for Susanna to live in our home at this time. We pray that the Lord will do a mighty work to heal our daughter and restore our family...no matter how long it may take.

Any prayers offered up on Susanna's behalf will always be greatly appreciated.
