A Tribute to Gran'Ma Becker

On Tuesday, December 23, 2008, Great Gran'Ma Becker (Edna Lillian Cryer Becker) went home to be with the Lord. She was 97 years and six days old. Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we will miss her greatly, but they are also filled with joy as we know how blessed she is to be in heaven with God. Gran'Ma was an amazing woman. Even right up to the end when she passed away in her sleep. Her focus was always on others and how she could encourage and bless them. Even when she was unable to leave her bed during her last few days, her heart was more concerned with how others were doing. Gran'Ma was a blessing to all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

As we talked with our children about their wonderful and special great grandmother, we reflected on how she lived a life without regrets. Few people can say this. Gran'Ma may have had things in her life that she would have done differently or done over given the chance but she clearly lived a life that needed no regret. From the age of 12 she loved God with all her heart mind, and soul. She did this faithfully for over 85 years. Her love for God flowed throughout her life. She made wise choices...she married a wonderful man who loved her dearly all his life, she raised her daughter for God's glory, she invested in the life's of everyone around her, and radiated Christ's love in all she did. She made the best of everything, was willing to go anywhere (even Africa!), do anything that needed to be done (taking care neighbors without families of their own) and didn't know that she was actually getting old. Gran'Ma lived the life of the young at heart. The testimony of her life is an example we will cherish. May each of us live our lives in such a way that we live a life of no regrets.

Gran'Ma Becker will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
