A "Perfect" Day

On Sunday, we were blessed with a "perfect" day. It is not that what we did was perfect. It is what we celebrated that is perfect...JESUS LIVES! Jesus lived a perfect life, died the perfect death and now lives for us all! The above flower show beauty even though it emerged from a plant known as a weed. That is what Jesus' death and resurrection has done for my life. God has taken the weeds of my life and brought forth beauty that can only come from the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. I am humbled and most grateful.

We spent Resurrection Sunday in Stratford. The Burnett family hosted a fabulous celebration event that included a special worship service (that we'd love to have repeated weekly...hint, hint!), a delightful potluck lunch and an afternoon of fun at the park. My entire family was abundantly blessed by the day. We enjoyed the day with many dear and precious friends. The worship service was a huge blessing and a wonderful reminder of the gift God gave us through His son, Jesus. To worship with friends, to be edified by the word of God and to sing melodious hymns and hold one another up in prayer, filled my heart with overflowing joy. When talking with our children about the service, Parker commented that he liked it a lot because it was good and shorter than church services we have recently attended. The amusing part of this is that the service was actually 30 minutes longer. The Lord just used Mr. Burnett in such a way that he caught the attention of our children and time passed quickly. God has blessed with Mr. Burnett with a love for Jesus and a desire that all come to know Him. Mr. Burnett's enthusiasm is catching and inspires me to want to know Jesus better. I pray that unbelieving neighbors of the Burnett family that were in attendance were equally as blessed.

We all enjoyed that potluck lunch and the opportunity to meet new folks. The time spent at the park was so much fun. The weather was pleasant, the littler kids enjoyed all the great play structures while the bigger kids played volleyball. The afternoon ended with a huge Capture the Flag game. During all the fun, the dads and moms were able to spend time in sweet fellowship. It was so great that we hope to host our monthly home church fellowship at the park during the good weather months. We would have taken photos of the day but we got so busy enjoying it that we forgot.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.
~He Lives by Alfred H. Ackley

We truly were blessed to celebrate Resurrection Day with special friends in such a delightful way...It was a "perfect" day that could only have be made possible by a Perfect God and His Perfect Gift...Jesus Christ.
