Today was Susanna's 13th birthday. For our family, turning 13 is a huge deal. This is the time that an "official" commitment is made to wait for God's best in their life. They make promise to remain pure while trusting God to work through their father for their future mate. A ring is given as a symbol of this promise and to be an ever present reminder of the commitment they have made. We are blessed that our precious Susanna has made this commitment in her heart and now is proudly wearing her special ring.Another bonus about being 13 (if you are a girl) in our family is that you can get your ears pierced. After picking Susanna up from school, this was the first stop we made on our way home. She was nervous at first but is so happy she decided to get her ears pierced. She looks so sweet. Next stop was to Braum's for a birthday ice cream cone. Becker, Parker, Clay, Emma & Camie were very happy to join Susanna with ice cream cones of their own.
Once we got home there was still time for the kids to play and hang out together. Dennah made a fabulous celebration dinner complete with her wonderful chocolate cookie pie for dessert. After dinner, Susanna had her ring ceremony with her dad. It was very special and Susanna was obviously overjoyed to be given this opportunity to wear a purity ring. It blessed this mama's heart abundantly! Mr. Russell stopped by just after the ceremony and Susanna was thrilled to see him and share her joy. The evening ended with some special gifts and a movie with the older children. Susanna was very pleased with her birthday celebration and was very grateful for all that had taken place today.
