Yesterday was Hattie’s 18th birthday. It is so hard to believe that our precious little girl is now 18 years old. What a blessing it has been the last 18 years to share in Hattie’s life. How we praise God for Hattie and the special birth mother and her delightful family who entrusted Hattie to our care. What joy fills our hearts to be the parents of Hattie Grace Elliott.
Hattie had a great birthday. Bethany, Sun Young and Kaye all saw to it that Hattie’s birthday did not slip by unnoticed. Hattie shared that her teammates and friends at EXCEL blessed her greatly with their thoughtfulness and creativity. Hattie also shared that she had received cards and gifts from family and friends in the mail making her birthday even more memorable. It was most hard on Hattie’s mama not to be with Hattie on her special day, so hearing that she felt loved and blessed brought much joy to her mama’s heart. Thank you to all who blessed Hattie through your generosity, thoughtfulness, kindness and prayers.
In the photo above, Hattie is wearing the pearls that her Grandpa and Nana sent her in celebration of her 18th birthday just days before she left for EXCEL. Pearls are the traditional gift for an Elliott granddaughter turning 18. Hattie was delighted to receive such a special gift and will cherish her grandparents thoughtfulness for years to come.
Thank you again to all who have been holding Hattie and the other girls at EXCEL up in prayer. Your prayers are being answered as Hattie is finding joy in all the challenges set before her. God is growing Hattie in many ways while showing Himself strong, faithful and merciful. What a mighty and generous God we serve!
