Last week during spring break, we were blessed by a visit with the Henry family. What started out as an afternoon adventure turned into an evening game night. So glad that the Henry family is flexible and open to unplanned fun.Mrs. Henry, along with Travis, Chloe, Matthew and Joshua joined us for a walk to the barn, table tennis, trampoline jumping, laughing and lots of talking. So much fun! Travis also took opportunity to share his love of all terrain paintball. Travis is somewhat of an expert when it comes to paintball and has all the latest and greatest in paintball "toys." He has convinced Brent and Hattie to join him next weekend for some war games...ah...father-daughter bonding at it's best! At least that made gift shopping for Brent's "now I am closer to 50 than 40" birthday easy. (Very BIG grin...keeping in mind I am two years old than my what-a-guy and don't want to hit 50 alone.) Since the paintball demo was taking place, we were able to persuade Mr. Henry to come our way so the entire family could join us for dinner. The evening ended with games, table tennis and more talking. It was delightful!
During Travis' spiel on paintball, Becker and Parker caught his enthusiasm and are now sure they are meant to be war game players. Fortunately, Travis told the boys that he started out when he was 14 and and with a sling shot. Well, today I took the buy to buy sling shots with the idea that target practice would be good from them. When we got home, I set the boundaries, gave them a target and sent them on their way. All was going fine until it started to rain and they took it upon themselves to "adjust" the boundaries. As it often goes around here with our busy boys...we are now one van window short. Ugh! Yes, with 500+ plus acres to practice upon, my precious son was able to aim in such a way that the rock ricocheted off something and took out the window. This is a costly lesson but I praise God for it. We couldn't have asked for a more visual lesson about the consequences of using a weapon incorrectly. We praise God that one one was hurt and now our son understands more clearly the importance of staying under authority. In the meantime, I have a reason to stay home since Brent has declared our van "undrivable" and we now have a boy looking for a job.
Just another day at the Elliott house...
